Google rolled out call from Gmail feature to U.S. based Gmail users, you’ll be ready to get started once “Call Phones” shows up in your chat list (you will need to install the voice and video plug-in if you haven’t already). Google Call is a real life savior in case if you don’t have your phone with you, Or you’re in a place with poor cell phone reception, or you’re travelling internationally and don’t want to incur expensive roaming charges.
To place a call to a phone number in Gmail after installing the voice and video chat plug-in just follow the steps below.
To place a call to a landline or wireless phone number:
- In your chat list, click the Call phone link
- In the resulting Call window, dial the number you wish to call (you can use your mouse or your keyboard’s number pad)
- Click the Call button
When you’re done with your call, just click the End button. If you wish to call the same number back immediately, you can click the Redial button after the call has ended.
Note : If you don’t see the Call phone feature, don’t panic!
At this time it’s only available for use in the United States. If you are in US and still can’t see the call phone feature then ensure that your Gmail interface language is set to English (US).
