As you know Google rolled out Google call and video chat integration in Gmail with a new plugin. Now you can make video chats and national international voice calls to mobile and landline phones. Video chat is released to Gmail worldwide user base while national / international voice calls to mobile landline is rolled out of US accounts only. Following are the instructions make a voice or video call from one computer to another after installing the voice and video chat plug-in just follow the steps below. If you’d like to make a voice call from Gmail to a landline or wireless phone number, follow these instructions.
Making a computer to computer voice or video call
- In your chat list, select the contact you’d like to call
- In the chat window, click the camera icon to make a video call or the phone icon to make a voice call.
Tips : If you’d like to make the video area full screen, just move your cursor over the video chat and click the icon in the upper-left corner. To resize the video area, you can click the Pop-out link in the chat window and drag the edges until the video is the size you’d like
When you’re done chatting, just click the hang up button.
Receiving a computer to computer voice or video call
You can receive voice and video calls placed from one computer to another in Gmail, iGoogle or orkut whenever you are signed in to chat after you have downloaded and installed the voice and video chat plug-in.
Whenever someone initiates a voice or video call with you, you will be notified with a sound notification and a chat window will appear. If the call is a video call, it will automatically show your camera’s video feed at the top of the chat window. If you wish to take the call, you can click the Answer button in the chat window. Alternatively, you can ignore the call by clicking the Ignore button.
