One of Reader sent us a message that he wasn’t able to restore / update his iPhone with iOS 4.3.3 Every time he try to update his iPhone, he gets a weird iTunes message "iPhone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible" as shown in following image.
Solutions :
- Make sure you have the correct firmware version, you can download iOS firmware for your corresponding device (Download from Here)
- Update your iTunes to latest version.
- Try restoring your phone in DFU Mode, if that doesn’t work then try downgrading your iTunes back to iTunes 8 and try again.

Hello! Found this error for the first time ever. Tried all the steps you advised but nodda. I’m trying to restore my iphone 4 to firmware 4.3.3. I followed all the steps for DFU etc etc. I have TU running to do update, use fix recovery and get error 21 when i try to restore. Then, when I place it into DFU mode I get error 1600. THEN, I place it into pwnedDFU mode via iREB r4 (which is supposed to be the end to this…. right?) nope…. I then get the error message to which I am commenting on….. any ideas would be great!
Thanks a lot in advance!
